It does not matter.

Ferrari refers to their cars as do fighter manufactuers.

So think of a Ferrari as a fighter.

OK got it. The belt is usually changed at 3,000 miles or so, regardless of the mileage. So it is important to know the exact mileage when the belt was chamged so you know where you stand exactly. That clears that up
Thank you

No. It's 3 years or 7,500 miles +/-!

That sounds more realistic. That is why I had first questioned the belt change observed on several low milage 04 and 05 models. From reading here, I see that owners are cautious and have the belt change done after 3 years. As a non Ferrai owner I find this amazing, since belts last so much longer on other cars. Can anyone explain why so quickly on a 360?

Ferrari belts dont go every three years or 7500 miles. If you look in the books for a 99 - 2001 360 it will say Belt Service every 30,000 Miles or FIVE years. Ferrari made so much money off service they changed the books in 02 to say THREE YEARS. Now that the 430 is out and there is no beltservice you are finding Ferrari Factory Service techs saying 5,000 - 7500 miles and TWO YEARS! I have seen belts go for a lot longer then three years and a lot more then 10K miles and not a single one has snapped. I think you will be hard pressed to find a single ferrari owner that messed their car up by not changing the belts. Its a myth........

Ferrari's belt campaign applied to all Ferrari's not just 360's!

The 430 now uses chains so that is non-applicable to that model.

I am aware that the F430 is not a belt drive; just out of reach at the momet
I have just downloaded the 2005 Ferrari buyers guide from amazon.com. It lists the belt change at 4 years, no mileage indicated, FWI.

I have the actual service bulletin on my computer at home. I'll post it later.

Ferrari is 3 years. Does Amazon do timing belts?

Here is the service bulletin from Ferrari.

I was in error as to mileage but accurate as to time.

I guess Ferrari keeps adjusting the timing to suit their revenue needs.

Mike Sheehan did a really good article on this whole issue:

That's funny . Ferrari Life provided the Amazon link for the Ferrari Forum 360 buyers guide download for $5.

Ferrari had offered a free tensioner campaign, but the owner paid the labor. It was usually corrected at a belt change. I can not confirm if this is still a policy, since this is second hand knowledge from a dealership.

There is more fact then fiction to this statement! Common sense should always rule.

And for sure that is someone from whom you can rely as well as from Brian Crall in San Ramon, CA, who is equally experienced and trustworthy.
