F355 Berlinetta

Where can I get more info on these? How rare are the manual gearboxes? The only ones I find for sale are spyders with the f1 gearbox.

6 speed models should not be rare at all.

The F1 tranny was introduced in 98, and not all cars had this. There are berlinetta's made before 98 so don't give your search.

Try http://www.ferrarimarketletter.com/. You'll have to pay $40.00 for a 6 month subscription but it is worth it.

If it's a berlinetta you want then take your time looking for it.

Make a profile on Ferrarichat if you dont already have one. Theres lots of good info on that site and alot of knowledgeable people, there is also a for sale section that will have several 355B. All the Bs from 95-97 will be 6 speed, the F1 was introduced late 97 in Europe and 98 in the states, however like Gcalo said not all 98 and 99 have it. There were less Berlinettas made then Spiders, but more than GTS. Finding a good one shouldnt be too hard, but dont buy the first one you look at, shop around and take your time. My Ferrari by Pininfarina book gives these numbers as far as production goes.
355B-3829
355B F1- 1042

355 Spider-2664
355 Spider F1-1053

Good luck with your search.

Excellent advice and you need to know what years had what problems and how to tell if they were ever fixed.

If not done you could end up with a $12K-$15K bill to repair the vehicle.

Ferrari's need maintenance unlike most other cars. They are definitely not for the faint of heart.

You might also try contacting Mike Sheehan at ferraris-online.com, He should be able to help you locate a manual F355

When you find the right one get an independent Pre Purchase Inspection done.

There is a F355 Buyers Guide which can be downloaded from FerrariLife.com
