360 steady engine light

I was driving my 360 when the engine icon came on and stayed on. The only info that the manual states is possible cat issues which can cause over heating, and not to drive the vehicle. All other gauges were fine and the self diagnostic start up was fine as well. So at this point I was optimistic and felt it may be a sensor issue, but not a fun day. Called my local Ferrari dealership and they told me to bring it is. After their diagnostic testing and inspection, I was told that the light went on as a result of a loose gas cap. I have come to find that this is common with Ferrari 360's. Has this happened to others here?

I always make sure my gas caps are on snugly. Most cars now days will trigger the Engine light when the cap is loose. When I was a SVC Mgr. the first thing I asked people would be "Did you recently get gas?"....They would ask "How did you know?"
It is a hassle, but much better than a serious engine problem!

Yes much better then engine trouble. Even though I do not recall not tightening the cap, I will make a concerted effort next time.

The 360 is very sensitive to generating CEL's from a loose gas cap for some reason.

I have not seent his occur as much on any other vehicle. I can let the 530i run w/A/C on and open gas cap w/no problem!

I always shut engine in the 360 before filling even when extreme's of weather when wife would want heat or A/C left on.

Don't over tighten but make sure it's snug.

Here's another great item I use. It goes over the filler and protects the body etc when refueling.

You can see it at: http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...s/fuelguard.do

Thanks for the Griots link. Overall it is a pretty good set up on the 360 and the nozzle does not lean on the car. A good item anyway, especially on a Porsche.
