Dont be too impressed by people who drive such cars. Even in this economy its easy to get leasing through companies with just a little down

Regardless, sounds like it's going to be 1K a year for leisurely driving from what I've read here
I would just like to say f*ck u all haha, I live in Australia, and im 24 with clean record..
Insurance for my '98 WRX with an Agreed Value of $15k is $3200 a year.
Although if i bought a Falcon XR6 Turbo it would be round $1600 a year, but thats only a $40k car... damn we get ripped off

Consider this: You own multiple vehicles and live alone and have a clean insurance record. Therefore, only one vehicle can be operated at a time and if you have a Lamborghini as an "occasional" vehicle and a Camry as your primary, they might buy that and drop your premium.
Consider the same scenario but your record is bad...an at fault collision 3 or 4 years ago or something. They very well may now consider your premium based on what they could potentially take the highest loss on, which, given the fact you wiped out a few years back, would likely be your Lamborghini, even though it is registered as an "occasional use" vehicle.
The same applies if there are others living within your household (ESPECIALLY immediate family members/children...hopefully that last one is not an issue for the 20 somethings here, haha)
If you've got property with them as well, like others have said, they'll hook you up. Another thing to consider is that some organizations offer hook ups with insurance companies as well.
In my province (Alberta) to work and practice as an Engineer, Geologist or Geophysicist, you MUST register with a 3rd party company (Apegga) otherwise, you're unlicensed and technically, you cannot be called a professional or work in those areas legally in the province. However, Apegga has a partnership with an insurer (Meloche Monnex) that gives mad hook ups to Apegga members and their dependants (including student members, which I happen to be)...although it's not something that's really openly advertised unless you read their stupid monthly publication that they mail out (which most people don't.)
Anyways, in my opinion, insurance companies are always crooks and always out to screw you in any way they can. Shop around, ask around, talk to friends, and be prepared for frustration and rage...haha.
Another thing is be upfront about modifications. I recall someone on a local forum was posting about how he was once REAR ENDED in his SLK32 AMG at a stoplight by a vehicle travelling ~70kmh. The vehicle was damaged very extensively, but since it was new and worth something, the company decided not to write it off. When they discovered that he had some minor undeclared modifications (minor suspension mods for occasional track use) they actually tried to use that as grounds to get out of paying for the repairs to the vehicle.
The more you know!
I'm 29
and I pay 1800 a year on my Gallardo. I'm with state farm and insure my home and my other cars with them so I get a discount. Of course my policy is restricted to 7500 miles a year.
My hat's off to those 20 somethings that can afford these cars on their own, I work hard everyday and consider myself pretty successful for my age, but some careers only have so much earning potential. I invest most of my spare change in hopes of being able to afford a nicer car at some point down the line.
One word: USAA
If you have anybody in your family that is military try and get signed up with USAA.
I bought my Z4 M coupe when I was 20 (no accidents, 3 speeding tickets). I had a $100 deductible, full coverage $50,000 collision / $100,000 liability, and I was paying $645 a year.
I bought my 06 C6 Vette when I was 21, same history and coverage, and I was at $875 a year.
Shop around, and try and get USAA..hell I only get it because my grandfather is retired Army.

location is critical. that car will probably cost you 6-7k a year in NJ. When I got my first car, an M3 back in 2004 NJ wanted me to pay 5k a year to insure it, and that was with a perfect record.
