Wind noise F430 rear view mirrors

I drive my F430 coupe with the windows down whenever I can. There is a noticeable amount of wind noise -- its tolerable but the loudest objectional noise when driving 60-70. My morning commute would be far better with out it.

I traced almost all of that noise to air passing between the twin "stalks" -- handles - whatever you call them, that hold the rear view mirrors out to the body. I covered the space between them red plastic electrical tape I found at the Ace Hardware and the noise is completely gone. Possibly I reduced the car's top speed by, oh, maybe 1/2 mph, but I actually doubt it (air distrubed enough to make thatmuch noise is probably creating a lot of drag, too).

I'd like something a bit better than tape and am looking at making a syrofoam insert covered with plastic, etc. Although, frankly, the tape is nearly a perfect color match and I doubt even 1 out of 100 would notice it.
