Tuning the Ferrari F430
Tuning the Ferrari F430
I neither work or own a tuning shop. I own a 2007 F430 Convertible and went to hell and back trying to get more HP out of this car. After several attempts I was finally able to get 36 HP (to the wheel) on a continuous curve while keeping the car stock.
I first tried the Fab Speed Headers and Air Boxes. The car lost 37 HP in the low range and only gained 10 HP at redline whilst running with the "check engine" light. After we contacted Fab Speed, they refused to stand behind their product. Their solution: Take it to a different Dyno. We took the vehicle to two more dyno machines and the car produced less. We tried both Mustang and DynoJet machines. By the way, they never offered a solution for the "check engine" light either.
FabSpeed was definitely an unpleasant experience as they treated us poorly and never offered a solution. I was very fortunate that my good friends at German Motoring in Miami took it upon themselves to refund me the money spent on very expensive headers and mount the factory headers twice. Fabspeed did not want to take their headers and air boxes back. I do not know if they eventually worked out a deal with German Motoring.
Just last week, I was invited by the good guys at The Stables in Miami to tune the car. I hesitantly took the car to the DynoJet, ran it three times. Plugged the unit into a laptop while still on the Dyno and in exactly 5 minutes, the new program was in. We ran the car again after cool down and Eureka! The curve began to increase consistently from 22 HP all the way up to 37 HP at redline to the wheels.
I also chose the option to extend redline to about 9300 which, if you compare 8500 vs 9300, the increase to the wheels was 46 HP. We adjusted the escape valve to open up as soon as you pressed the pedal more aggressively and reprogrammed the shifting in the transmission. The car shifts much more quickly, almost feels like the Scuderia. All of this without changing any of the factory components. It is a ghost program that is supposed to be undetectable.
I have the option of changing the Cats and the exhaust but I am happy with the car AS IS now because the sound has not changed. So, my advice: Don't spend money with any of the expensive bolt-ons, they did not work for me.
I have the Dyno Charts available for anybody to see.

Can you post or send me the Dyno graphs. I am sorry you had these issues, I know how unpleasant it can be to not have your expectations met. Who did you speak to here at Fabspeed? This sale was a year or so ago was it not?

Damn Fabspeed losing that kind of power and not sticking behind their product is a complete shock to me. I have only heard wonderfull things. I would like to know what comes of this. As for the tune on the dyno you got those are amazing gains. Best of luck with any futrure mods.
F430 Miami, PM Sent with information. Our F430 Headers have never lost power on any 430, so there must be something happening that's causing the power loss. our headers use larger primary tubes with much better merge collectors which allow the exhaust gases to exit the engine faster, in return make a HP and TQ increase. Please get in touch with me when you have a moment.
thanks and enjoy your weekend.
