stupid question about F430
Since I sold my Porsche I have been thinking of getting another car....been thinking about a Lamo for awhile, but have just recently started looking at F430's. My question is this....I found a pretty nice F430 for sale, but in the description it stated that a major service was just performed for $37K!!! The guy said that the manifolds and catalytic converter were replaced along with all the fluids.....$37K is insane for a service...that's close to 20% of the value of the car!! Do major service's for this car usually cost that high??

In a word, no.
The major service on a 355 used to run about $12K.
This included removing the engine, changing the timing belt, water pump, etc.
I would ask why the cats and manifold were replaced? This easily tacked on several thousand to the cost but to my knowledge is not part of the service requirement.

Absolutely not. Without knowing all the particulars on the car in question its difficult to comment. However, after owning 9 Ferraris I have never had a scheduled service remotely near 37K. Is it feasable after the warranty expires and major compents are found faulty yes. Is it the norm, absolutely not on a contemoprary Ferrari. Research, due diligence, and pre-purchase inspection are key when purchasing any pre-owned exotic.

All fluids should be $700-900. Manifolds should be free under the 8 year emissions warranty. But dealers won't replace them unless the manifolds have a clear defect. Ferrari NA requires the dealer to ship back the part back to Italy for inspection. I have an '05 F430.
$37k is outlandish. Maybe he was exaggerating by saying 'this car has had $37k worth of work' ...... if you took it to a Ferrari dealership and paid out of pocket the fees that it would cost to do the warranty work. Even then it would be hard to get above $10-15k.
