Is a 360 REALLY Better Than a 996TT?
Never said the 996TT wasn't a good car - it was. It was reliable and bulletproof which is why I have a 997TT now. I just don't miss the 996TT.
2005 was the last year for the 360 (Spyder only). Modena's last year was 2004.
I am also in the proces of buying or not buying a 360. I have a Porsche 996 gt3 Club Sport tuned by Manthey.
I think that the Porsche GT3 series (996/997) is the car that comes the closest to the feeling you get when driving the 360.

There is nothing common except the high rev engine.
The interior of 996/997 looks plastic and cheap. The sound is worthless and below 6k rpm the car is simply dead comparing to 360 which seems very alive from 3500 rpm and on. Imagine i can get full satisfaction driving from 3K to 6k rpm. In the danger zone of 6k+ rpm i still feel fear, havent used the power yet. The anti spin on a dry road can hit with 3rd or even 4rth gear
. The car overall gives the impression of at least 500hp cars.On the other hand 997 GT3 is much easier to drive and can maintain higher top speeds and being more stable.
Better? Well the 360 is definitely more exciting to own. Never the less, the 996tt is a great car, more usable and I still miss mine a lot.
Yes, a clean 360 can be had for around $80k-90k, but the service bill is around $1,200 for annual fluid change. Then there is the belt service every 3 years/15k miles that can set you back another 3+ grands. In addition, driving the car over 40-50k miles will significant reduced the resale value of it. Compared to the Porsche, the F-car is much more expensive to own, and especially, if you are planning to put miles on it. To properly own a Ferrari, you'll need to have another car for daily.

OP here,
I concluded that the 360 is not "better enough"
to consider, regardless of low damn low the price is. OTOH, a 430 is better in every way, and I'll just have to figure out a way to come up with the added difference. Also considering Gallardo spiders and early Murcis.
My crush of the moment though is a Ford GT
