If you're not very careful, this is what happens w/o skid plates...

And this is a bumper w/skid plates installed.

that's why u gonna love german engineering/design. the CGT already got a plastic lip that people usually don't notice. most people are hitting that lip not the bumper itself. it's very strong btw.
