575 M or F1?

Hey guys, I'm looking around at the ferrari 575, I think it looks great, but is it best as a 6speed or with the F1 trans? Just wondering if anyone has either one and what your thoughts about them are.

Honestly, it's not worth the extra coin to get a manual 575 over a 550. If you were dead set on having F1, obviously the 575 would be your choice. The extra power in the 575 is negated by the weight of the F1 system so the 550 will be just as fast (yet a manual 575 would be a bit quicker, but not much). They are fantastic cars, fast as hell (splitting hairs between models), great handling, beautiful, and give the driver quite an experience. Good luck!

Well Joey didn't mention this but I think he went with a Manual. F1 is cool, but I would drive one first and see if you like the car in start/stop situations. Also ask yourself what kind of driving will you be doing in the car? City or Highway? The F1 sucks in traffic and automatic mode is a joke. Now if you will be shifting the F1 yourself and you don't mind a little jutter go F1. If you want to be smooth and you enjoy shifting yourself definitly get a stick. I will say this about F1, it is a whole lot of fun when you're pushing the car hard. You really notice it when you are racing a car and everytime you shift you get like 5 yards, its cool.

On the car we have coming in I decided F1 was the way to go fyi.

Yep, we went with the Ferrari gate. After driving two 575's with F1 my dad decided that it just wasn't what he was looking for. Too jerky and not involving enough-- mainly because this is a road car that won't hit the track. I agree with Bill that F1 was the way to go with his new car as the "superfast" system is supposed to be the best yet and he will be tracking his car quite a bit.

It's DEFINATELY a "you have to try it out yourself" kind of thing.

If you have a left leg and a y chromosome, you'll want the 6-speed.
