Go for it!
Buy the nicest one that you can afford and leave some money for fixing it. Honestly, the cars should be solid and not require any unpredicted maintenance but you will sleep easier knowing that if it does break, it isn't going to sit there until you can afford to fix it. Newer is somewhat better but solid history is much more important. The sunroof is aweful because it is actually a removable pannel in the roof. Worthless. Not really an issue because very few have them. Early cars are fine. The F1 tranny improves with each year and improvement but it isn't that bad in the 99-01 cars. You might miss the speed of a porsche but I can't imagine regretting a 360. If you have the means...
You can always rent one for a few days and try it out. Most dealers discourage test drives. Good luck with the search.

Your comparing a highly modified twin turbo to a relatively stock car. A stage 4 puts what 600 WHP. The 360 probably is close to 315 RWHP. That's not a fair comparison.

That's why I bought one with 26k miles, no worry about putting on more miles...

It's almost versatile .

Reliability has been fine, but we've only had it for a few months. The major w/out belts is only $700.00, with belts and everything possible, it won't be over 4k (every 3-4 years).

If you aren't tracking or daily-ing (even though I would ), go for a Ferrari. The value you get it also better than a lot of other cars. A 360 at ~110k will not drop much more, and a 550's are fully depreciated.

355's are GORGEOUS, but need engine out services (I've heard up to $12k). 355 F1's can go bad, and that's VERY expensive as well.

360's are perhaps the most stylish and exotic of the modern Ferrari's. They are very reliable from and extraordinarily fun to be in. Many complain about
the lack of torque, but it's not a problem. They also fly nicely, but don't ask about that.

550's are the most classic modern Ferraris. They are very comfortable, and provide a very rewarding drive. Reliable, fast as hell, and gorgeous.

512 will break your bank apparently. I have no practical experience with them, but I've heard this from people who have.

Good luck! Also, PPI, records, manuals, and KEYS (!) are important to look for. The key situation is so stupid. Also look for pulling of the leather from the dash where it meets the windshield, bubbling of the leather cover on the passenger airbag, sticky switches (that's partly unavoidable though).

Few years ago I drove a 550 at Infineon. I was extremely impressed. Sure it's a GT but, it handles very well and the engine is fantastic. I would 2nd the recommendation especially if indeed they are fully depreciated. What do they go for now days?! Back then all I could think of was... damn I'm driving a "house" (value of the car) on track... I better be careful. But the car was VERY well behaved and performance envelop was very high.

So I thought I would get an older one, always had a crush on the old Testarossa...but what year???
Or a 360, heard bad stories there, if so what year???
What do you guys suggest????
I appreciate your input, Thanks.
If your looking for a weekend/trip car, go for a 512TR. They are expensive as far as maintenance( all Ferraris are) so look for one that has already had its 30,000 mile service. Also 512's are more relisable than early TR's. However, what ever Ferrari you choose make sure it has ALL documents. If service was/is performed regularly, you should have no problems.
