just sold mine, no problems with in for the 12000 miles I had it and the clutch was still good. some dealer in L.A had his own personal QP with 53k on the clock and had gone through 3 clutches.

bought in nye 06 for 106 and sold it just now for 83.

The automatic just came out. They have tested the new 07 Sport GT & the Duo Select was made much better this year. Much faster up/down shifts, much less jerky, much smoother. You tube the 5th gear review.

The only "issue" that I know of with these cars is clutch wear on the Duoselect ones. I have the same motor in my coupe and it is fantastic. The Quattroporte was the only Maserati fully designed with Ferrari's help so the design is better than other models IMO. Personally I'd get the automatic just because I don't do flappy paddles.

Maintenance is more than other cars, but not outrageous. 6k service then 18.5k on mine, I assume it's the same. The auto has a wet sump which makes for easier and quicker oil changes rather than the dry sump Duoselect models. Service tends to run on the expensive side, with some of them running into the thousands. I was quoted $2100 for I think the 50k service, though the 6k one I had ran me like 600 bucks I think.

The main issue with using these cars as daily drivers is not the car, but the fact that you have to go through Ferrari dealers. They are not used to people needing cars quickly it seems. Also the Maserati business has ramped up the service work quite a bit, and not all of them have ramped up to handle it. 6 weeks has been the wait quoted for an appointment at Beverly Hills the last 3 times I've tried to book, but I am lucky to live in SoCal where I have the choice of 3 dealers to go to. The Auto Gallery just expanded their service department and now you can get an appointment within a week at most. Inquire as to the wait for service at your local dealer. On the plus side, you get very high end service such as them coming to pick up your car and deliver it back when it's done.

Yeah I have to agree with Squid on the service issues and timing . That may hamper the daily driver thing. The auto did just come out for 07 and the stores I've been to have a good surplus of them. You can probably get one cheap.

It's definitely a sweet car and sounds amazing at WOT. I'm not sure as to the problems because I haven't owned one but I personally would prefer one over an S-class or 7-series only because they're not seen as often.

Supposedly a Face lift is due out soon, I'd wait for a couple of months.

we lemoned my wife's 2005 for electrical problems. autogallery was great and fixed the problem [the current owner has had no problems], but she lost confidence in the car.

it was gorgeous - grigio nuvolari.coiuo. and beautifully crafted, like a F.

the shifter was really slow, but other than that a great car. andy cohen has 50k on his and loves it.

i think they have worked out the bugs and you could test drive the new auto trans

So these ONLY came with manuals before 07???

I must be misunderstanding...even the Coupes and Spyders had automatics for quite a few years now.

How could the family sedan of the bunch only have a manual?

No, I am misunderstanding. This must be some type of special transmission for '07, right?
