Maserati Quattroporte depreciation

Has anyone else noticed that quattroportes have depreciated like crazy. My dad bought an 05 quattroporte with a sticker of 123, it has 7,000 miles and we haven't been able to get over 65 for it. The car is worth half the price in 2 years and it's barely even been used, i find that a little rediculous.

All Maseratis have poor resale value.

Well thats why when you decide to buy a car, it is better to have a look at what price it will fetch when sold. I have a maserati quattroporte and i dont intend on selling it.

My Porsche dealer also sells Maserati's and they share the same building for service. When I was there a few months ago the store manager showed me a GT3RS they just got in that was over by all the Maserati's in the service. There were a ton of them....probably 15-20 all broke down with tranny and electrical probelms. He said this is typical and Maserati sales are suffering for it. He said over 1/2 the customers get tired of all the issues and trade for another brand that is more reliable...even though most all these cars are not daily drivers.

The depreciation is just as bad or worse for Mercedes!

Yeah, it's pretty brutal. My old business partner bought one for 123k sept. 05, he's in the same boat now.

Bugger for you my man, however it shouldn't be such a big surprise since all masers of the past decades have had horrible resale.

CayenneS2083 Jul 27, 2007 10:49 AM

We were on the list and bought it right when it came out. It is a beautiful car and drives really nice for a sedan. The thing is we only use it about once maybe twice a week and in the past 2 months it has broken down on us 3 times leaving us stuck. We are pretty much trading it in for a cayman s so we will now have 3 porsches in the garage. I gotta say though of all the cars my family has had porsches have pretty much been the best ones.

Wow, I never knew what a pos the maseratis were....

Depreciation is terrible. I bought my car with 4k miles on it for 54, the new sticker was 95 or so...I think FMNA imported too many cars. Supply > demand

The quattroporte was hurt by the introduction of the automatic model, which is what most people were looking for when they bought that duoselect thing. Depreciation held solid for the Q-portes for a while then dropped when they auto came out. Buy used.

I assume $65k is the trade in value, since i have been looking at 05 QPs and they seem to be more in the $80k range at dealerships.
I would take it off your dad's hands for $65k btw.

A few months ago, i was contemplating trading the M for a 02 Cambio Sypder - iirc, new it probably fetched upward of $90k, it had 17k miles and the asking price was $45k, which means it probably could have been had for $40k out the door

I dont think i would ever consider buy a Mas new, seems the better bet is a used w/ low milage
