South Florida Toys Car Run - Ft. Lauderdale to Naples
Was nice meeting a couple of you.
I hope all of you had a better time than I did.
The TT Viper was a mess. Probably the most ironic part being we had to fill it up 3 times during the trip. I wish I could say I am exaggerating but I'm not.
As everyone was leaving the collection we had to stop directly at the gas station within 2 seconds. This made us a quick 10 minutes behind. We finally caught back up at the designated stop 6 miles into Alligator Alley.
The best part being, as the film crew was taping every car leaving individually from the rest stop the Viper started choking and stuttering on the brink of stalling. Everyone thought we had pulled over onto the side of the road so we could let everyone pass so we could really get on the Viper and have some fun. Wrong, we were broken down and overheating on the side of the road. By the time we had opened the hood and let the engine cool down enough for it to start back up we were down a good 15 mins + all cars traveling at 120+ mph. It was terrible. We didn't get above 70 the entire way back, non-functioning AC for cool air, we had to turn on the heater to allow the literally smelting engine heat to escape from somewhere which happened to be on our feet.
I feel bad for my buddy who paid $100 to get in, $200 in gas, paid Heffner $2000 to fix his car while it was in their shop for 2 months and didn't even end up having a functioning car that could finish the rally as planned.
It's a shame, it is one of the most ridiculously beautiful and fastest cars I have ever seen and been in when working properly. Apparently 90+ degree Florida weather doesn't agree with 1000hp+ twin turbo Vipers over long distances.
All in all, I have 10 pictures to show for myself. Thankfully I wasn't getting paid for this event so I don't feel bad for not having any work but it was a failure on our part. Long story short, buy a really fast car from the factory and save the race cars for the track and drag strip.
You gotta pay to play and today we payed and did barely any playing.
Lesson learned, next event we are taking his 675hp '08 Viper with all the creature comforts!

man, thats a real bummer. I had a great time, but my time ended after the rest stop.. That was when my father and I were going to head back home. I remember you saying the viper was a gas guzzler, but 3 TIMES, WOW. Sorry your experience was so sucky, and Im looking forward to the orlando event.

That was definitely an awesome run! Not only did this make my weekend, I can safely say that this made my month! I was the one in the red corvette convertible with the crazy camera guy (Ceasar) putting his life on the line to get some great video footage. It was great seeing everyone there and was one hell of a blast seeing just how fast all of our cars can go.
I spoke with Alex briefly on the upcoming event, and was told it will be happening sometime in August with Orlando being the destination, where we'll all take some time to hang out at Universal Studios for the weekend.
Great run everyone!

Great run everyone!
Looks like a great event. Please keep us posted on details of the event in August. I would love to drive down and cruise back up to Orlando. I'm sure there are a few of us that would make the trip.
I'm in.
Info on the next run. Looks like fun. I'll probably do this one.
