Veyron has been dethroned
Is there an affiliation with Carroll Shelby? I feel somewhat dumb for asking but I didn't see Carroll's name anywhere in relation to the car. I'm sure he's filed some kind of lawsuit over the use of the name anyway.
You'd have to be insane to buy that kit car
Who the heck would pay $240,000 for that piece of **** kit car? If you want to go 250mph on a budget, buy a Viper Coupe for $80,000 and get the 1,000hp Heffner's twin-turbo kit for $50,000. Not only will the result look a million times better and run faster (7's in the 1/4), you'll save yourself $100,000.
Not sure when, but the SSC Ultimate Aero ran a two-way average of 256mph with Guinness Book reps present. It is officially the fastest production car in the world right now. And, that was with a 71-year old guy driving on a public highway in Washington state (troopers shut down the highway for the test). They are going to bring the car to Germany to test on their "super-smooth" tracks and are expecting a two-way average of 270+mph.
The Guinness Book of World Records can. I believe the run was this year though, so I don't know when it will be in the published book.
^ Because this car's claim to fame is that it can supposedly beat the Veyron. If they don't emphasize that, it won't generate the hype/sales/whatever and it doesn't seem as though this car can compete against "normal" supercars in terms of heritage or pure design.
I still think the design plays a big role in its sales. Why would you want to buy something that looks like that?
