New Garage for a New guy
Well In the end I am shooting for staying under a 75,000 dollar turn key job.
I just picked this up tonight to put in the garage though......A new project to play with.
1977 Jeep CJ5, 304 V8 , 3 speed on the floor, 4wd.
Well I got my "stop work order" lifted this week, so I can move ahead with the building process now. Man what a fight. In the end it boils down to me removing 4 ft of the rear of the structure to satisfy the city zoning setbacks.....I wish they would have just told me that in the beginning. I would have just built something else. But moving on none-the-less. I will update with the new progress when the builder returns.
Well here it is in the process....still working on getting it right but, for now this is what it is.....
so first they build in a new wall in order to hold the "load" so the old one could be torn down....
downstairs

upstairs

and just to see how much is coming off...

then just tear down whats on the outside of that wall....roof and all....

leaving me with a sh*tload of wasted lumber, and a pocket short of about 20,000 dollars on top of what is already spent and I still need to finish up the siding, boxing, and the inside....

I couldn't agree more...however, I was in compliance with the setbacks when the construction began....even have stamped and approved plans, they just decided that it was too tall after the shingles were put on, and took away my permits...seems like they can do anything that they want with no responsibility for their mistakes.... In all actuality they should have never issued the original permit. Now that I am going to attach the structure to the existing home the set backs are different....hence the removal of the 4 feet. But this clears me of my height issue, making the garage a part of the house instead of an accessory structure.
yeah man it was sweet, but I had to let it go to....needed the extra cash for the construction.
