Garage lighting

I put in cabinets 2 years ago, then a new floor last year. However, it always seems kind of dark. I'm thinking of upgrading the lighting in my garage. It is 35 x 28 with 13' ceilings. Currently it has four 4' dual fluorescent bulbs. Has anyone found an attractive solution? I like to detail my car and I would like to be able to see what I'm doing once in a while.

Is that porcelain tile? Looks great. Is it really slick when wet?

If the sole purpose of the lights is to detail the car I would suggest 2 500W work lamps on a floor stand. They will allow you to see the defects in the paint. Overhead lights are simlply not going to do that no matter how many you install. Garage looks good. I recently epoxied the floor in my garage and installed lights. I went with 4 banks for 4' T8 tubes in a standard 2 car garage and when I need to detail/polish the car I break out the dual halogens on the floor stand. It is height adjustable and shows every last defect.

I love your cabinets, would you mind sharing the manufacturer if you are happy. Your floor look awesome. I never thought to install such nice tiles in the garage! Enjoy the car!

Great idea with the floor stands but I still need to upgrade the overhead lights as well.

Yes the tiles are porcelain. They are more slick than epoxy but not as slick as I thought. No one has fallen yet.

I would recommend going with T8HO fixtures or T5HO fixtures. Your ceiling is high enough for high bay lighting

I am building a garage now that is 45x45 with 14' ceilings. I have a lighting layout for (16) 8ft T8 fixtures(4-T8 lamps in each fixture). I will get an average of 65-70 footcandles everywhere. You can also order these fixtures with 2 2-light ballasts and have bi level switching...I didn't do this this time...but just an idea....
