My garage.. well, whats in them anyway...

Ok, I have a craptacular one-car garage that the Cobra resides in, the RSX sits outside and the Thunderchicken is elsewhere awaiting a motor transplant, but here they are:

Mid-Summer Night's Dilema:

2003 CBR1100XX
2003 Mustang Cobra
2006 Acura RSX-S ASpec

The garage queen:

The rice:

The T-Turd: (The original money pit since 1996!!!)

(Old camera)

The CBR has no real nice pics of it that I'd be willing to post (they suck)

The plans for the Cobra are somewhat unique when compared to what is normally done to those cars. I like calling it Cobra 2.0.

As of right now, I have installed the Bilstein BTS suspension system which is a progressive spring setup tuned to the high performance Bilstein shocks. This takes the creaky-crappity ride out of the Mustang and makes the car feel "more solid and put together" as quoted by other Cobra and Mustang owners who have driven the car. I later added to this by upgrading the stabilizer bars to the Eibach offering with good results in between better handling and comfort.

I have added Brembo 4-piston brakes / Baer Eradispeed Drilled/Slotted rotors to the front which dramatically improved the braking power and fade resistance over the stock PBR 2-piston. (yeech)

After a short while with a Magnaflow-Magnapack setup, I decided to go a different route with the exhaust with a focus on sound tuning and something a bit quieter and refined. On order I have a catted Mac Pro-Chamber and FR500 Ford Racing catback exhaust. The FR500 is unique to the Mustang Cobra in that it is a chambered design that incorporates pressure-sensitive valves and a rear X-Pipe. This allows for a quiet ride around town, but old-school classic musclecar tones under throttle. The rear X-Pipe is an interesting item which is said to increase torque values mildly, but adds to the unique sound of the system as a whole. This coupled with the ProChamber's legacy of "great sound" should meet my expectation of the setup in theory, but that remains to be seen or rather "heard" by me.

The interior will be gutted and the entire car will have a mixture of Extreme Dynamat and Dynaliner materials to reduce road noise as well as assist with the forthcoming stereo setup cloned from the RSX. Being a luxury performance fan and having done this to the Thunderbird already, the difference in noise level comfort is astounding and something you would experience in other high-line luxury cars) The weight added would be around 50-60lbs maximum as a 36 sq.ft. box of Dynamat is about 30lbs? The manual passenger seat (pending availability) will be replaced with a driver's power seat.

The stereo will be replaced by the same headunit used in the RSX which is a Pioneer AVIC Z-1. Being a person who had once built CAR-PCs and no longer has the time (or the desire), the Z1's incorporation of a 30GB (easily upgraded to 100GB) drive is more than enough to keep me happy. Aux inputs allow for laptop, but why bother? The usual items such as XM/Bluetooth are included as with backup camera if I so decide.

Components will be the Boston Acoustics Z-Series powered by 300/2 JL @ 3ohm, JL Audio W7-10" in sealed enclosure with 500/1 rounds out the system. Powerful, but with an emphasis on clarity and solid sound, not SPL.

One of the first modifications made to this car were 6000k Philips Ultinon HIDs for both the headlights and foglamps.

In the near future, a polished 140ax Whipple supercharger will boost horsepower from 470RWHP to somewhere in the 600RWHP range or better. A comfortable transition of power to the ground is achieved through a Spec-III+ clutch said to be "more streetable than stock" and clutch adjustment so that one need not have superman's leg for the antique cable-clutch system.

The rear IRS suspension will receive a Maximum Motorsports Delrin bushing overhaul and MM full length subframe connectors will tie the car together nicely and, pending brake clearance modifications, the car will rest on 18" BBS RK Plasma wheels wrapped in Pirelli.

In addition, some midnight reading and research has turned up a cool new toy in the UK. I hope to have both the RSX and the Cobra will be outfitted with a laser-guided parking system that "accidentally" jams most police laser equipment.

Yes I write a lot of crap.

I thought about the Performance White or whatever it was, but it was to be the DD and in Chicago I can go a while without a wash in the Magnesium. Also, the black interior was not available and I was not big on their shade of beige, titanium or whatever.

The Type-R comes with an obnoxious red interior. I had a red interior in my 1979 Olds Ninety Eight when I was 17... Never again.

With a ported blower I have trouble getting traction on BFG Dr's much less crappy Pirelli. No way u will like it with a whipple. Way too much wheel spin.
