I want to lower my P car 1" inch..what do you think?

okay, i know that all of you wrench guys will think i'm crazy, but i am interested in lowering my car about 1". i have 19"s on a 996 and i think lowering it just a bit will make it look that much better.

i priced out how much it would cost and they are saying approx $1500 for the kit. i'm guessing about the same for the labor.

sooo....here is the question, how hard would it be to buy the kit and do it ourselves? have any of you installed your own? i have some pretty good guys that would be more than capable, but wondered, it is truly a huge pain to do yourself?

thanks for the advice!

get some H & R sport springs that'll lower it about an inch...springs will only cost a couple hundred but the labor will bring it around the $1000 mark...you want the car aligned afterward also...will ride the same...

great idea! i've heard that brand of springs are really good!
thanks for your info!

Don't listen to the old man. The sellout doesn't even have a porsche anymore :D Not to mention he doesn't keep his cars longer than 3 months so he hasn't experienced what happens when us po' folk drive these cars for a while on lowering springs :)

Get yourself some PSS9's. It's a great street suspension and it's not too costly. Probably around $2500 installed with alignment. Check shox.com

They usually have some great deals. Springs+stock shocks=crappy handling and prematurely worn shocks :)

Perfect timing for this thread...I just had PSS9 installed TODAY (Aug. 29) over at the good folks of Lucent Motors (thanks Arling, Tom, and George). I used to have Techart springs on my car, but they wore the shocks out (saw them when I came to pick-up the car). Anyway, the ride is great - it's money well spent (just don't tell my wife :D).

may i ask what the total was? w/ installation included? just trying to figure out what the average cost would be?
