Anyone else think 2nd gear is hard to shift to rear redline? 997 GT3?
The shifter on my GT3 is amazing, but does anyone else think it is sometimes hard to shift fron 1st to 2nd? mostly when you are near redline it feels like it just doesn't want the shifter to go to 2nd and sometimes it misses 2nd and you are in neutral. It just seems it sometimes takes effort to put the car in 2nd, almost like when you shift it feels like the knob is going to crack off.
Anyone else feel this? Edit: I was not able to change the title of the thread, but i meant near redline and not "rear" redline. Sorry about that. |
it will loosen up as u put more miles on it. really tight when it's new.

shifting
I've got 11,000 miles on my GT3 now since April. Half of these miles were on the track. After about 4,000 miles, the transmission loosened up and I don't have any issues shifting. The only exception is when the car is not up to proper running temps or if I "rush" a shift. Enjoy!
PS - all my shifts are at redline on the track - no problems. |
After warmup, no problem at all. 5500 miles and my tires are almost toast.

One of the things to remember is to pull the shifter straight back and not towards your hip. Tendancy is that when you shift from 1st to 2nd and it's a fast one, that you pull the shifter towards you. Just a thought....

The only hard thing about driving this car is putting it in the garage at the end of the day!:D 14030 miles, 5 sets of rears, 3 sets of fronts and three front spoilers.:p http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1286/...482a93.jpg?v=0 hilarious |

I had the car maybe a month and a half, have 1,200 miles on it and use it everyday. So i am sure it will loosen up soon. |
