Porsche 911 GT2 and Ferrari 430 Scuderia
I am biased against ferrari, as I think their popularity isnt justified by the quality of their automobiles, but I would have to say that the Scuderia is the superior car in this comparison. Mainly because of the platform (rear mid-mounted engine), the sound, its gearbox (I am a fan of flappy sequential gearboxes) and also its N/A V8. Also, the 997 GT2 looks too much like the incestual offspring of a 997 turbo and a 996 GT2.
I think the RS or even base GT3 would be a more comparable car to the 430 Scuderia...both N/A track-oriented cars. The Scuderia will probably outperform it, but at triple the price
We can't hold the mark-ups against the Scuderia, it is what it is. Taking into consideration the list prices of the two cars, and given the choice and the ability to buy at MSRP, I wouldn't even consider the GT2. IMHO, it's not the same experience.
Truthfully, I'm not 100% convinced I'd trade the GT3 and $$$ toward the GT2. I'm not running the ring, so giving up the GT3's 'just right' looks, frisky feel and great sound for speed I can't appreciate as often on the road.. I don't know. The turbo torque is great, however.
The Scuderia, on the other hand, is like a GT3+++ (the only minus being no manual, but F1 SF-2 is nice.)

Ordinarily, I would say if you want to drive it go for the GT2, and if you want to look at it go for the 430, but the Ferrari looks too much like a kit car. It is a shame Ferrari can not build the beautiful looking cars that they use to.
The Scuderia doesn't quite have the sensual curves of the CS (the best looking modern Ferrari, IMO), but I wouldn't call it tacky either. Bottom line.. with all due respect, the GT2 doesn't have a word to say to the Scuderia in the looks department.

That's true, the current 'wind tunnel shaped' Ferraris are not as beautiful as the older models, but beauty is still at the core of Ferrari's design philosophy. Porsche's designs are merely purposeful by comparison.. beauty is like tertiary.

Interesting conversation. I would probably choose the GT2 as well because of the Value Factor and maintenance dollars. The GT2 is a Porsche and for the most part they are built bulletproof. The ferraris are very exotic and cost a small fortune to maintain and not many dealerships are available in Norcal, need to go to the City and they rip you off bigtime... So yea, it's the GT2 for me!!!
