997 GT3/RS ring time

so theres and debate going on between a moderator at m3forum who thinks the BMW csl is equal to a 996 or 997 GT3. what was the 997 GT3's time at the ring, 7:40 right? im hoping luis can chime in on this. or maybe scott.

i still say by a good amount GT3>csl any day and time

theres a time out there of 7:47 manuf sugg time and this guy thinks the 997 GT3 runs 7:47, but im almost sure it was 7:40.

rr4 is infamous around these parts
Walter Rohrl completed a lap at the Ring during a public road day, on a damp track having to pass 5 cars in the process in an RS with a time of 7:42. He also said at that time he felt 7:39 was possible in the RS all according to EVO.

Sport-Auto test of GT3RS is 7:47, M3CSL was 7:50.If you ever driven the ring, (as I have many times in both my CSL and my GT2), then you'd know that 3sec is not a significant margin over a 13mile lap.

The CSL is also far easier for most drivers to drive fast, as it's far less technical a drive than a GT3 and far more forgiving, very easy to hold on power oversteer through long corners for example.

In my experience, the CSL is pretty evenly matched with all the GT3s at the ring, but at the more open circuits such as Spa or Silverstone the 997 GT3s are definitely slightly faster than the CSL due to their power advantage.

Either way there so close that driver skills are by far the determining factor.
