100 octane fuel
100 octane fuel
Anyone else running 100 octane in their GT3? Will there be any power advantage over 91/93 octane fuel b/c of advanced timing from the anti-knock control, ect?
I just came back from Daytona for the Rennsport Reunion III, ran Sunoco 110 both days back and forth (about an hour and a half one way). The car and I loved it! Call me crazy but I even like the way the car smells after running it. I don't do it all the time, but boy it sure was fun.
100 octane is always good. In addition to the obvious benefits it also helps keep the injectors clean. I usually run 100 mixed with 91 in all my cars and then a tank full of pure 100 every now and then.
Check out this Mk.1 996 GT3 in Australia:

Of course this data is advertising for the company, and so may be liable to 'over-hype'. Personally I havent noticed any significant difference in my GT3 or M3 using 100 octane (5% ethanol in Australia) fuel, although I have only used pump 100 octane not actual race fuel.

I get VP100 from the pump at a local Mobil in Rancho Santa Fe. I mix 3:1 of 91 and 100 to effectively get 93 (where most of you lucky gents get elsewhere in the US).

I get it from a local Shell station but I don't think it is shell brand. Since I don't drive the car much, $6.75 a gallon isn't that bad compared to $3.50 a gallon for 93. Concerning race fuels like VP, are they catalytic converter safe?
