This is what I found on the 997 GT3 parts diagram:

11k OEM-99620723194 Oil level dipstick
12k OEM-99620703190 Guide tube

It doesn't show it actually in the diagram, but it's in the parts list. The price is cheap enough for me to order and see if it works or not. I'll let everyone know when I get it in about a week.

If it works, this would be my prefered method of checking oil level. Obviously, the same procedure still applies as with the electronic method, but this will give me a better mechanical verification.

The thing I disklike about the electronic method is that the readings are never consistent.

The electric dipstick SUCKS. Mine doesn't even read the same with back to back measurements. The one in my M5 is at least consistent an gives a unit to the measurement like 0.6L

 

ya that electric dipstick is so unreliable. Its annoying

 

actually the GT3 electronic oil level gauge is extremely accurate. you need the motor hot, but not moving for 5 min or so to have the oil drain back to oil tank.
