Hehe good stuff They came by today to pick up some parts for powder coating... Hope you went with their "two-stage" process?

Good stuff. It takes longer (more expensive) but the Cayman S wheels they did for us have been _pounded_ at the track and still look fab.

Hi mixedmac,

I was in Maas Brothers Tuesday afternoon to check on my race pedals that Steve is powder coating black for me and spotted your "silver" wheels in the warehouse awaiting new paint.

Please let us know your impressions with the quality and durability once you have them installed. Oh, are they doing the center caps also? Are the caps plastic and can they do plastic?

I know they will look fantastic!

definetly will post pics as soon as i get them back. the plastic center caps will be painted with a special paint so the finish will patch the wheels powdercoat.

Make sure whoever you choose to powder coat them has a lot of experience with powder coating alloy wheels. The powder coating process can fatigue the metal when they are baked, and there have quite a few cases of wheels cracking under stress.

Alex,

What is MAAS' "two step process"? Are you talking about their clear coat after they powder coat it? Wouldn't the clear coat make the wheels shinny?

I am thinking of getting my wheels done too. They said not to do flat black because it will show all scratches. They recommended at least to go with the Satin Black.

I had them do a set for my sister's boxster and it came out very nice. They did not paint the centers because they are plastic.
