I'm a little confused because I have been told on more than one occasion that there is only about 10 hp to be gained from the 6GT3's motor (with the possiblilty of sacrificing some torque in the process) and that my best option would be to increase it's displacement to 3.8. What modifications did Porsche make to the 7GT3 to gain the additional 35 hp and 15 lb-ft tq? Is the center exit exhaust the primary reason for the power increase? Has anyone on this forum installed one of the upgrade kits from Manthey, CarGraphic or GMG? If so, how much power was gained and did it have a negative effect on driveability?

PM Old Guy on this Forum, he had a Manthay-modded 996 GT3.

These are very hard cars to extract more horespower from. You have to change the intake, exhaust and ecu if you want any sort of increase. Increasing the displacement to a 3.8 along with those other changes would add real world horsepower that you can feel.

Evoms also offers a 3.8 kit for 996 & 997 Gt3's.

 

The 997 GT3 has internal changes different to the 996 GT3.
The throttle body is larger and compression also up (12:1) therefore pistons are different.
I think the exhaust of both are equally good.
Maybe Alex or Fabryce could chime in and give a better more detailed description.
