Got sport chrono on mine but not used it yet. Added because it looked nice and with all the other expensive goodies like PCCB's, leather, sat-nav, phone, Orange paint, etc it seemed daft not to.
Poverty spec?
A stop watch that no one uses, leather, navigation, telephone, etc. have absolutely nothing to do with the intrinsic value and spirit of "RS" Porsches.

Leather, "nice trims", audio, etc. will not make the RS travel down a counrty lane or lap whatever track any faster. They will however, add weight. The RS is genetically a race car. Not a grand tourer. A lean and toned athlete!
The added weight is minimal and the driver makes the biggest difference to lap times. What the factory options sheet offers is the opportunity to spec the car for the individual usage, If you just want to do track days you spec the car accordingly If however you want to do track days and go touring the RS now offers a solution.
I have driven a 997 GT3 RS without air-con as the owner was paranoid about weight saving. No extras whatsoever. It was bloody horrible. Sweating bucket loads and I am sure the aircon adds so little wight and uses so little bhp that the driver comfort and concentration levels are improved sufficiently to cancel out the percieved benefits of not having air-con. Also seems that, in the UK anyway, non-air-con cars are far more difficult to sell on.
Of course, the driver is critical and the weight is minimal. I am trying to convey that a blinged out RS is not as true to the car's nature as one without superfluous options.
