tire brand/model: stock is fine or run R888 in 19" unless you have 18" wheels, then run R888 255/315

tire pressure: depends on tire

brake fluid: srf, motul 600 or ATE

brake pads: pagid yellow RS29 or RS19

roll bar: oem, tequipment, custom or various other aftermkt stuff

seat belts: shcroth

suspension/traction control settings: use the recommended track setting on owner's manual and then dial in from there after you track it.

Mooty has it right, If your car comes with the corsas its a good R compound tire all around wet or dry. Once I ware my out I am going with R 6's. Tire pressure, does depend on the tire but generally hot under 40lbs and experiment from that.

On the schroth belts, they make a belt that is specific for the GT3 seats its the Schroth Profi II. you asked enough questions to go on for days, I would take each topic and search the treads you will find tons of info and opinions.

The 3 is a pretty good track car out of the box I would start stock and go on from that as the car is much better than we are starting out. You will be hanging on to the wheel rather than driving it at first.

RS 29 Yellow
RS29 combines the outstanding wear rate of the RS19 with a slightly higher coefficient of friction and initial bite. Due to its excellent driveability PAGID endurance materials are also often used for sprint races. Application: All endurance racing cars from group N (Speed-WC, Grand Am Cup), Group A up to GT and Sport-Prototypes (Grand Am DP).

RS 19 Yellow
Best compound for endurance racing on the basis of the RS14. A slight reduction of the friction value improves the modulation (controllability). Nevertheless, the friction value is enough for cars without power-assisted brake system and ensures comfortable low effort on the brake pedal. Constant temperatures up to 600°C (1,100°F) are possible. The combination of friction value, fading stability and low wear rates on pads and discs (rotors) realised with this material is unmatched up to now. Due to its excellent release characteristics and controllability PAGID endurance materials are also often used for sprint races. A multiple winner of Daytona 24h, Le Mans 24h, Sebring 12h, Spa 24 h, Nürburgring 24h, often with no pad change and usually no disc (rotor) change. Application: All endurance racing cars from Group N (Speed-WC, Grand Am Cup), Group A up to GT and Sport-Prototypes (Grand Am DP).

Thanks! Now, the question is, which is the best for track and aggressive street use?

The pagid RS14 are more aggresive than the yellow compounds. Harder on rotors, but firmer initial bite. Harder to modulate that the 19 and 29.

The RS29 has a little more bit than the 19

all in stock

thanks for the feedback.

mooty: i am still on my first set of stock tires and will probably just stick with those...michelin cups, albeit i will get a new set before the track day.

toyo and kumho are other possiblities i hear.

pressure cold on cups?

brakes. i have pccb's. so it looks like RS19 pads and castrol SRF fluid?

roll bar and belts. euro gt3 seats w/schroths a la toad.

jonathan: my track experience in a car is limited. skip barber 3 day race school. some karting. my experience on a bike is extensive. tracked prepped many bikes, ducati, yamaha, aprilia, etc. sop is slicks, steel brake lines, new fluid/pads, revalve fork, new shock, steering damper, water wetter. that'll get you started. but like toad said, porsche has pretty much done all of this for me.

i plan to do maybe 3-4 track days per year. this car is more of my street fighter. if i really wanted a track car id buy a used 996 gt3 and strip it.

toad: id like to have your setup. so much for golf clubs, ill miss the high speed runs to monterey. oh well.

where is the best place to pick up a set of seats, belts, and a roll bar? same for the oil and pads. looking for best customer service and install, no hacks please, there are a ton of them here in the bay area.

peace.

Feel free to drop me an email:

We have introduced a complete World Challenge package for the 997GT3 and RS models.

Its a complete package that is upgradeable.

We have optimized everyting to work as complete package and taken the guess work out tuning a 997GT3 for track work.

We have set up well over 3 dozen GT3's for track use in various stages over the last year. The World Challenge package has been in development for over 18 months now.

if you have PCCB, i am not sure pagid would work. you need to find someone who tracks with PCCB. they have very specific requirements

SRF is fine as brake oil PCCB or not.

sharkwers and tcdesign (see my signuare link) are the BEST in the bay area, they can provide you all the seats, roll bar, belts blah blah. alex knows his stuff. TCdesign is a master in alignment, literally all the fast GT3's in bay area are serviced there. he can do custom roll bar for you. he did 8 roll bars for me, 2 in cayman, 6 in GT3's (yea, all my GT3's). alex can get you seats and so forth.

if you are doing just 3-4 days a year, i wouldn't do too much. just stay with factory pads, run SRF, get seats, belt and safety items. run oem mpsc or toyo R888 in 19" you are set.
