ALMS pictures from 7/3/04
Today was practice and qualifying day at Lime Rock. Porsche cars made up over 50% of the field.
There was only one Ferrari along with a few Corvettes and Panoz. The new Lambo Murci sounded incredible. Not sure if they allowed it to use the V12, forgot to ask the pit crew!
It was my first time at Lime Rock. The track was a bit smaller than I expected, 1.53 miles I think. There are no stands, but there are several places near the track where you can get quite close.
There is a large hill overlooking the main "S" turns on the track and would make for nice pictures with the right camera equipment.
You have free reign in the paddock and the crews are pretty friendly about answering questions. Several crews actually had a guy dedicated to wiping down all the hardware by the trailers and cars. Hummm, maybe there is a career opportunity for me after all.
Here are a few picts shot with a CoolPix 995. I do not recommend using any digital point and shoot for this type of action, they are just too slow to focus and react.
I had my old school 35mm and the big lenses with me. I'll see how those pictures turn out in a few days.
