Question GT3 engine really that great??

Yikes, I'll probably get tons of flames for this, but can somebody post side-by-side dynos of a regular C2 vs a GT3? At a first glance, it seems to me that the engines are very similar, and that the only reason the GT3 pushes 381 is that it revs higher.

TQ for a C2 is around 273. The peak HP RPM for a GT3 is 7400. If you throw that into the HP equation where HP = RPM * TQ / 5252, it comes out to 384HP!

Don't get me wrong, I love the GT3!! Maybe it's late and I'm delirious, but if anybody can provide some insight into this? How different are the engines? Is there only an advantage IF you rev it that high? Thanks in advance! Looking forward to your responses... hopefully I'll be enlightened and appreciate the GT3 even more than i already do!

Completely different motors. One is race bread, the other is not. Major things the GT3 motor has the C2 motor does not inlcude:

Dry sump oil system with 5 pumps. no oil starvation under G-loads
Titanium piston connecting rods.
lighten pistons and valvetrain.
GT1 crankshaft ect.
Motor is a homologation of their race motors.
The internals are very different, hence the $40,000 cost for a GT3 motor.

EXACTLY. That is how race engines make more power! You spin them higher, and allow them to breath properly at those RPMs and they make more power. But there is a lot more to it than just winding it higher. All the componants have to be worked on the allow that to happen i.e. strength and lightness of internal engine parts, increased breathing, proper operation of valve train, proper lubricaton, etc.

BTW that is how F1 engines make 900 hp from 3 liters...they rev to 18,000 rpm (but not for long)
