Our 996 on a Shaker

Figured I'd post this here instead of the Racing Part because it gets no attention.

This is our 996, one of the cars we run in PCA. It's Karl Podel's car (Dad's business partner's car in Racers Edge).

Here's the email describing what the shaker does:

Take a look at the video of our 996 on the 7 post shaker table rig at Ohlins USA in Henderson NC. A shaker table allows you to collect a huge amount of data about your chassis in a short amount of time. Various tests can be performed from simple increasing frequency and amplitude oscillation tests, to exact duplication of tracks from around the world. The control computer uses various data sources and controls the impulse forces to each of the rigs 7 individually controllable hydraulic actuators. Various sensors on your chassis monitor the vehicle dynamics and reactions to the inputs. Through careful analysis of the collected data, it is possible to tune the suspension setup, finding out what works and what does not work. Up until about 5 years ago, the only teams in the US that typically used these tests were NASCAR, CART or IRL teams due to the cost. This information is invaluable however when it comes to helping us provide a proper suspension system for your 996.
