Simon has these on his car and most people seem to use them for track also. It's definitely cheaper than Corsa and Cups. However some people have complained that it's noisy.

Does anyone have any experience with Bridgestone RE050 and Yokohama Advan Sport?

Advan Sport is more of a cruising tire. It's standard on the Bentley Continental GT. Good tire, but IMO does not suit the GT3's character. PS2 is slightly more aggressive but still streetable.

If you go RE050 only consider the RE050A Pole Position. It's as good and maybe even better than the PS2. Bridgestones usually have stiffer sidewalls so you might like that if you prefer sharper steering at the expense of some ride quality.

All the tires you're looking at are good but there is a huge difference in the selection you've considered so far.

In order of performance to comfort:
1. Pilot Sport Cup/Corsa/R888
2. PS2/RE050A PP
3. Advan Sport

I've got the RE050A PP on my 964. Nice tire, but harder riding and louder than the PS2. Yes, you can save $600 on a set for a GT3, but I don't think they will last as long and I can't really speak to the wet performance. I can tell you that I've had PS2s at about 8/10 in the hard rain at Watkins Glen several times (it always rains when I'm there) and they are rock-solid even at 125. To me, it's worth an extra $600 to get the PS2 and they last like iron...

Of course this isn't on a Porsche, but, TireRack tested the RE050A PP relatively favorably in wet grip vs. the PS2. I think the tires are pretty close.

I didn't get any work done this morning so I have to do it now since the house is quiet. And no, it's work related. I only took a short break to answer some emails.

Thank you for the info Smurf. Where do you rank the Pirelli Pzero Rosso on that list?

Welcome to the world of the devalued dollar, we are getting hammered on anything imported. 6 months ago the corsas were selling for 505 13% increase.

I'd rank it at about the same category as the PS2 or maybe the Advan Sport. Nothing special. The difference between PS2 and Advan sport is very minimal, nowhere near the difference between it and a real Cup tire.
