Daily Driver

I have 15K miles in one year of ownership. I've driven almost every day in rain, snow, and shine. And yes, I did say snow. It's runs great with snow tires. In fact, it's one of the better snow cars that I've had in a while. I run 19 inch Continental Snows (810S).

Everyday GT3RS

My GT3RS is my everyday car. It is an 08 and has 11,000 miles on it in the last 6 months. It has made one trip to Colorado and back and probably 4 trips to LA and back. I special ordered it black with black graphics so it is pretty low profile. I dont think I could drive a orange or green one everyday.

As far as using it everyday, it takes extra care to save the front end, but it just is a skill you develop. Sometimes the road noise and ride gets a little annoying but really it works just fine and I find the car to be totally entertaining to drive and is as quick as anything else.

I have had the car at the Laguna Seca one day and was quite surprised how quick it was there in a total stock form. Porsche describes the GT3 as a road car for occasional track use and the GT3RS as a track car for occasional road use.... I find that statement to be true but have done quite well with it as an everyday car

I use a combination of black Guerilla Tape and a black Sharpie. I taped all the way across the bottom half of the front lip, around the bottom edge and ending on inside bottom half. I did it with 3 layers of tapes. If it scrapes up badly thru all 3 layers, then I'd just torn out the old tapes and replace with new ones. The lip is still in excellent condition. I also use a Sharpie to do some touch-ups when I see minor scratches. So far it works out wonderfully.

Few creature comforts and low ride height makes every drive an adventure.

Once you drive REALLLLY drive it, you won't want to drive anything else. Don't remove the front lip. Like the others have already stated, keep an extra one at hand. Just be careful how close you park to those concrete blocks.

Drive like you stole it.

+1. I've 996 GT3 with 43k miles. Did nearly 30 track days last year and I drove it to/from the tracks, mixed with some daily drivings. Considering 997 is a lot more user friendly on the streets, I don't see using the car as DD should be a problem. Cars like GT3, you gotta drive it a lot to be able to enjoy and get to know about it. There is nothing else to it.
