Which to buy: Noble or 996 GT3?
DITTO! I was rather infatuated with the Noble until I saw the attrition rate at the track. 100%!
IMO, for a pure track experience, the 6GT3; for all-around performance and street driving, the 7GT3. I've been off and on about selling my '04 SY GT3 for some time now since I am no longer tracking it. I was leaning toward a 997S, but (think) I've settled on moving to a 7GT3 if the price differential between the 996 and the 997 approximates $20K (or I win the Lottery). Right now, it's at $50K, which is a premium I'm not willing to pay. (Then, of course, there's always the TT route since I'm looking for more of a GT experience in my old age.

I own a porsche take this for what its worth. The Noble is a faster car around the track and in a straight line. The noble is lighter as well. You can also pull another 50 hp out of the nobles stock turbos by upping the boost by simple boost controller. This puts a roughly 2100-2200lb car at 500bhp. That would SMOKE a gt3 in every way. Im sorry, but the porsche is outclassed and overpriced vs the noble. an absolute shame

you must not be factoring in an on call tow truck for every track day or a tow vehicle and trailer for the Noble that actually gets tracked regularly...

Also, please consider reselling the noble... the used ones on this board seem to sit around for a while...
I do not doubt the performance claims for the noble you mentioned though.
So what is a reasonable noble price -- used with say 7500 miles?
996-3 overpriced??? at $70K???

I always wanted one, BUT, after reading overheating issues and crazy stories where brake lines were being melted and cut through, not for me.

70K is VERY reasonable in my opinion. The noble uses a ford ecotech engine that is fully built by the rousche treatment. The engine is BULLETPROOF. Overheating is a new issue to me. The cars are designed for buisness. I Love them with a passion. A TRUE drivers car without all the markup that a porsche carries. Im sorry guys, if nobles were sold in the US I would defect. I love working on them and driving them
I like the noble A LOT...
I just have read about a lot of issues... there is one that comes to my home track and the guy brings two cars in case one breaks (Lotus, Caterham, Noble etc)
I think if you read around a bit, the overheating is a well known issue.
When running properly, they simply are fantastic cars.
I still would limit my risk and go 996-3...

SHould be easy enought to fix. Larger capacity radiator, larger cfm fans, low temp thermostat, Some race cool addative, no big deal, cars are easy to work on and plenty of room to get around. Servicability 100x that of a porsche. Im sorry, noble has just a simple elegance about it, makes me get all warm inside

you are correct, that a noble of any kind is faster than any GT3 on straight or on most tracks. but that only happens for the first 100 miles. after that, they melt under heat. this is from personal experience.
if u bend a fender on GT3, a few 1000. if you bend a panel on noble... five figures easily.
i have either owned or driven just about every street car worth tracking. and for 70k at the moment GT3 is a good bang for the buck

I am lusting for one!
The overheating issue on Nobles is an easy fix is what I've heard. I finally got to see one in person on the road earlier this week and they're simply badass. The noble not only beats the 996GT3, but can probably beat out the new GT2 also. Have you guys read anything about what kind of numbers these things are putting out? 3.2s 0-60 time and 11.4 quarter mile. Here's a review by Edmunds:

The only thing that sucks is the stigma of it being a "kit car" and registration in CA is a *****.
