Steel brake differences of 996 and 997 (GT3 and GT2) ?

Hi,

To clarify a bit, I talk about steel brakes:

I am very interested what is the difference between 996GT2/GT3 rear brakes and 997 GT3/RS rear brakes.

(Got a 996TT with 996 GT2/GT3 front brakes and could get a steel brake set from a 997GT3RS to rear axle...)

Any info guys?

This should be easily checked out when there is a 996 GT3 and a 997 GT3 in the same place.

Pretty sure the big tuners like GMG, Sharkwerks or Vivid would know and could help...

Well, it's my understanding the same brakes are on both 996 and 997 GT3 (I have a 997). Brake pads are exactly the same, as are rotors - so I assume calipers are as well.

Rear rotors are different. 996 GT3 at 330mm 997GT3/RS at 350mm.

Given the stock brake bias on the 996 Turbo/C2/C4/GT2/GT3 you're better off with the bigger rear rotors.

Be aware that the calipers are different as well, and the 997 GT2/GT3 rear calipers need to be removed to change brake pads.

Front ones are the same (iron rotors 996/997 GT3). If you choose PCCB, the 997 GT2/GT3 use the larger 380mm rotors at the front.

I guess I stand corrected... Curious though that brake pad and rotor vendors are claiming they are the same. Maybe they mean on the fronts? Then again, I'm thinking maybe the 996 GT3 cup rotors are the same front and rear?
