this subject has now been settled for me. just read in new c/d mag that gtr was at the top of group of cars run at their vir comparison test. faster than most super cars other than scuderia, mosler, viper acr. then r/t mag tested modded versions of similar cars and again gtr was fastest lap time. this car is the real deal despite its not so impressive weight/hp stats

so now it comes down to this - if youre looking for driving involvement than maybe a 2wd porsche, zo6, etc with clutch pedal is going to be more rewarding. if youre interested in thrill of speed or getting fastest lap times than the gtr will probably do a better job for all except the most advanced drivers

The GTR should have been way faster than the Ferrari at VIR afterall the GTR is a 7:29min car as compared with a 7:39min. Now you see why the GTR times doesnt match up. My guess is that some samples are boosted up by Nissan but the majority far slower than the Ring example.

7.39 --- 161.58 km/h -- Ferrari 430 Scuderia, 510 PS/1402 kg (sport auto 07/08)

7:29* -- 164.68 km/h -- 2009 Nissan GT-R,

If Nissan puts the GTR on a massive diet, carbon fiber doors and panels, loose the interior and maybe a turbo or sc, porshe will deff have a run for it money, and msrp.
porshe needs to do something fast.

Porsche doesn't need to do anything but continue on their current course. They just gave us faster shifting and more power with less fuel. If anything, that is what their competetors ought to be doing rather than worry about 'Ring times, which is a dubious honor at best. They are also about to give us a four door high performance sedan which will probably fatten their coffers even more than the Cayenne does. And, we know the 998 is coming. If anything, Porsche competetors should be worrying about the new Cafe standards which are fast approaching. Porsche is doing exactly what they need to be doing.

GTR Spec V is the closest thing to your description. I doubt they'll loose any interior but it'll be around 3500-3600 pound.

gtr spec V. nice sounds expensive. msrp?
yeah the panamera is a beast. and yes ring times are superfluous but competition drives the beast. i have to agree that fuel economy is the future, or a super performance hybrid( ethanol/ alcohol)
