I need to sell my old 17" Fikse track wheels for some..18"s? I assume that is the OEM wheel size.

Actually I like the white wheels, but I am bumming about this being my 4th car with that same boring 996/986 interior; I am looking for ways to dress it up inside with CF or something. I think I will have center console delete done, as I think that looks cleaner inside.

I am also curious about the track comparison. 986s are SO amazingly neutral, I am thinking I am gonna be in spin cycle for a while. lol I am sure the engine will be awesome (my old 3.6L X51 was pretty sweet, too). I am sure cornering will be an education, with initial frustration and disappointment, but which hopefully will turn to glee after I get the RWD 911 thing under control. I am having some GMG suspension bits installed which are really supposed to settle the back end down a lot. It will have a very hard act to follow; the 986 handling is amazing, especially with the RUF springs and fatter rubber.

That is is why I am asking. I love the Boxster but would trade it for a GT3 given the opportunity. The Gt3 is the only other modern Porsche I am interested in owning. Congrats on the car and I like the color. enjoy it in good health and remember to video tape on your first few track outings.

That is the conclusion I came too a bit circuitously. I just hope the GT3 lives up to its rep on track, handling wise. That mid-engined balance is going to be hard to live without; so forgiving and so quick.

Congrats! I'd been watching that car for awhile and I couldn't understand why it hadn't sold any sooner. In regards to the boring interior, just add some white accents: seat backs, rear center console, vents, gauge faces, etc.

Check the alignment first because these cars are notorious for going "out of alignment". You'll get the hang of driving it eventually then nothing else compares.

I am thinking of splurging for these seats I saw in a RUF 997. Think the alcantara cushions would look out of place in a 996 (full leather) interior? My car has red (deviating) stitching in it already.

It already has white gauge faces. How do white pieces (like center console) compare in cost to their carbon fibre equivalents? Are there other sources besides Porsche for painted pieces? Any links to pics of cars with white interior pieces?

I have to be careful, or this fairly reasonably priced car won't be so reasonably priced any more. lol
