Durametric code reader for 997 GT3/RS ?

Hey Guys

Need your opinion on code readers. I got air bag warning lights after swapping out seats for track and my local dealer want to charge $160 just to read the code .... who know how much more to press a button to clear it lol

Like to get a diagnostic code reader that can clear airbag warning lights etc. Did a quick search and looks like Durametric software found many fans with the 996 folks. Does anyone have experience with Durametric for 997 GT3/RS? I found them on e-bay and it's only $287

Thanks

-software is easy to use
-i have used it to clear codes after a dyno pull and to log the car
-if you want to premanently remove the codes you are going to need the dealer software to tell the car you have non-air bag seats
- if you are going to swap seats after a trackday, the software will work for you

interesting ... it will work for 997 GT3/RS? I swap to OEM GT2 seats so it has all the sensors airbags etc

just got a reply back from Durametric

" Hi Mike,
Yes our kit will work on your car. And as long as you re-install the original seats you can turn the light off. But if you are using shell seats without airbags you will need to have the airbag module re-coded at the dealer to tell the airbag module not to look for an airbag in the seats.

Best Regards,
Duram
Durametric Software "

Looks like I can use this software to clear the codes since I exchange OEM seat to OEM GT2 seats which has side airbags and occupant sensors

Another issue here is that when you switch to shell seats two things must be done. You need the software to not look at the side airbags and the passenger seat weight sensor. This sensor determines if it needs to fire the airbag based on whether somebody is in the seat. My dealer charged me 106 bucks to reprogram my car. It takes about 15-20 minutes to do.

$106 is pretty cheap. GT2 seat do have the side airbag and occupant sensors like the OEM seats. $106 for 20 minutes of work = $318 per hour. Man! I don't even make half of that hourly wage lol

I just ordered the Durametric software. Will give feedback when I get it in couple days

Second Childhoo is infamous around these parts
Develop a good relationship with a local service technician and a great deal of this stuff can be avoided.

mike, did you disconnect your battery when doing the seat swap? if so, why does your car have the SRS light? does the new gt2 have the SRS bags in the seats? perhaps the resistance values are different from oem seats to gt2 seats?
