996 gt3
Car has not really been out for about 5 months.
Started it up and got CEL
Not flashing but solid light, message says drive to service. Was not terribly worried until I looked up in essential 996 book
Says that these are misfires and that cel should be flashing?
Thoughts? I am 100miles from shop should I trailer it in ?
Codes are as follows

p0300
p0301
p0302
p0303
p0304

 

Those are misfire codes from 4 different cylinders and P0300 is a general misfire code. I'm no expert in this area but are you saying the car hasn't been driven for 5 months (same fuel in the tank for 5 months).
I store cars over the winter months and always use a fuel stabilizer and never had a problem, if you did NOT use a fuel stabilizer it might be a fuel problem (gummed up injectors and fuel lines) but like i said I'm no expert.

 

Sounds like a bad fuel issue. If you didn't put any stabilizer in it and let it sit that long, it's very likely. Have you taken the thing around the block just to see how it runs? With P030X codes it will flash only when it is currently mis-firing at a predetermined rate the could damage either engine or emissions control devices. Assuming since you were able to read the codes, clear em, drive it see how stuff goes. If you do have a tank of bad gas I'll warn you now, 9x6 Gas tanks and fuel pumps hate bad gas.
