Smokin' 2010 GT3
Mine has NEVER smoked on start up--- however, my Boxster has a couple of times, and I *think* I have figured out why:
If you ever start the car to simply move it in & out of the garage, for instance, and don't give it a chance to completely warm up to full operating temp, the next time it is started, it smokes. If, however, it is parked when at full temp, the next time it is started, regardless of how long it has been sitting, it never smokes.
Just an idea of something to try, it seems to be true for my cars.

Did you get a GTR? If so, an addition to the stable?
I'd be kind of pissed if my new $120k+ GT3 smoked at start-up. My wife's Lexus RX350 blew a second of white smoke several months ago and hasn't since, but that hacked me off. My C6 never smokes.
you C6 doesn't have horizontally opposed cylinder banks. If you parked it on its side it would smoke. Its simple physics. When you park a boxter motor and it cools some oil seeps past the rings. There is nothing porsche can do to stop gravity or design around this. Its no big deal and hurts nothing.
I'd be pissed if my sportscar made me skip 2nd and 3rd gears...

Why does the oil have to seep past the rings? I guess I don't know much about flat six motors, but I figured Porsche would have figured a way around this after 60+ years of building flat six motors.
On the skipping gears thing, you can program that out in about 30 seconds with several different software programs.

My 997.2 liked to do it on every start up after I got it. In an effort to curb that I've been letting it idle for a minute or two (3 to be exact) before shutting it down. Not sure why, but that seems to be the trick.
As others have stated, it is a very normal part of life with a GT3.

Crack the Garage door, long black pedal on the right.... Blow some rings!
Pissed me off at first however now I just give it a couple revs and watch how far I can shoot some smoke…. Get a Shark in the back and enjoy the music while the beast wakes up….
