WEVO mount my engine
#16
my mistake, i should have paid attention with the lime colour car u have, its a gt3 rs. i have a 997 tt and i am leaning towards the wevo instead of the rs mounts, it seems like wevo is designed to fit. havent decided yet, not sure how much more vibration/niose from rs mounts verses wevo...
Cool, let us know how you like it

Rep points for Mikymu for the detailed writeup on the Wevo mounts. I swapped out my stock mounts in an hour using your writeup as a guide. Many thanks.
And the results are outstanding. The 'feel' of greater stiffness and being connected to the car. A bit more vibration at idle and up to 1500 RPM. Perhaps a bit more vibration throughout the band, but to me it all feels much more like a sports car should feel.
So, no good deed goes unpunished. Can anyone point me to a post of a transmission mount swap. I bought a new one from SunCoast acknowledging that these rubber mounting points give out over time and with my car being a 2005, I'm a likely candidate for the swap. It's for a 997S rather than a GT3 (my next ride I hope) if that makes a difference.
Again, many thanks.

Thanks for this awesome thread! It seems I might have hit a snag in installing my WEVOs. When I look at the bottom bolt, it's a star-shaped thing. Is this the mount bolt? Can I use these WEVOs on a 997.2 S PDK?Attachment 328204

Anyone done a 996TT or GT2 without removing the bumper and IC hoses? Seems like it can be done by undoing the hoses at the Y-pipe and bending out of the way...?

Jack up the rear of the car from the regular jack points in front of each rear tire. Position your jack stands as indicated below (at red marks). To take the weight off of the engine mounts, put a short piece of 2x8 lumber flat under the oil pan and carefully jack it up a bit.
Worked great. Thanks!
Agree with previous posts, great upgrade. The car is significantly more responsive and more fun. A blast first times out at COTA and H2R, can't wait to try on a track I've been to for comparison.

Did my install (RSS mounts) a couple months ago. I did notice some slight vibration initially, but I must have gotten used to it, because I no longer notice anything! I did have one concern though. Tightening the M12 nut to just 60 ft/lbs seems low...? In another thread they mention 75 ft/lbs. When loosening it for the R&R, it sure felt like a whole lot more from the factory. Any comments?
