997.1 GT3 rear sway bar mount failure...anyone else?
I had one of my rear sway bar mounts fail on Saturday while AXing and am wondering if anyone else has experienced this happening? I have GMG bars installed and they are set to middle settings. I have run her once on A6's and this time on RE-11's and she let go with a bang. Was able to drive home with no drama. New parts on the way and not too expensive. I wonder if a stronger one is available or if I am going to break something else down the line.

What actually broke. The U shaped mounts that hold the bar, the drop link, or the drop link shock mounting point. I autox'd my 996GT3 for 4 years and never had a problem. Until I know what actually broke it is hard to diagnose the problem.

Peter,
The passenger side rear sway bar mount. The U Shaped pillow mount sheared.
Not 100% sure what happened. We had used one washer on each side to space the mount since it was very tight and we didn't want any binding. It may have been that or GMG is sending me a specific spacer for this application which should remedy the issue too. Might have been a defective part too.
Either way, all parts are arriving tomorrow and I will get the repair done on Thursday.
Sam Strano is coming down for an event this weekend and will drive with me. Looking forward to his feedback.
I'll keep in touch.
Thanks,
Stu

Wow that is 1st to my knowledge. The U shaped piece actually broke not the bolts. Are you running rubber bushings or Urethane??
Peter
Sammy drove my 996GT3 in 2005 @ an EVO school in Atlanta. He offer me his FS Camaro, 1st born and wife in trade. LOL Tell him I said Hi.

I am running the GMG GT3 sway bars and the urethane bushings that came with them. I have them set in the middle of the settings on both ends.
Hopefully it is isolated or something we caused when we installed them. Will find out more Thursday morning.

We have sold well over 100 sets of these bars and no issues, could have been an issue with the casting of the mount.
Let me know if you need any further assistance.
Fabryce,
Got your spacers today. I appreciate the swift help. I will fix it in the next day or so. I am sure it is an isolated incident or we did something wrong on the install with the spacers we used.
Thanks again,
