that is what surprised me so much. the car was there to get the VISUAL tech inspection required by PCA and FOC prior to club sponsored events. it was not there for any service! there was NO reason for him to be driving my car - at all.

in and out miles weren't noted on any paper work (my bad - again it was a referral from a friend to a reputatable shop). again, even with the one (his passenger on the joy ride who corraborated the 150 mph figure) and (maybe) two witnesses, there are no damages to sue for - luckily.

btw, I was told by my bro that a guy took his E34 M5 to a tune shop, and 5 months later he got it back with a s#@t load of miles...turns out the shop owner used it as a personal vehicle for the duration of the 5 months
Are you sure it wasn't an E39 M5? I read about an incident just like this with the owner of RMS in SoCal, but it was with an E39.

You are correct, it was an E39 and Osh (onwner of RMS) supposdly put about 20K miles on the car and the best part is, HE NEVER INSTALLED THE SUPERCHARGER HE WAS SUPPOSED TO

And to think I almost sent my M5 there...

Ben,

Like you said, there was no written agreement and thankfully no damage to the car. Take it as a lesson and move on.

Personally, outside of a couple of my good friends on this board, whom I trust more with my car than I do myself, I wouldn't let anybody drive my car.

Ben... since you cannot prove liability you should pay the bastard back and name names when you are comfortable...

How did he respond when you informed him how pissed you were?

I've not talked to him yet (weekend) and am afraid to do so in person just yet given my rage.
