18" Track tires - recommendations please!
RA1's are super cheap in Porsche sizes, and offer same peformance until they cord (unlike R888's). No, they aren't the fastest, but they are uber predictable, and great fun. Learn to drive fast on these, then go to something faster, if you really need to. super-Sticky tires cover up alot of bad inputs and driving.
tiresdirect.net has RA1's for less than $180/tire in p-car sizes.

Bingo, those are the perfect size. The slightly higher sidewall (over 19" sizes) will give more grip, and allow your TC/ABS to work perfectly normal.

The RA1 is an excellent value for us frugal enthusiasts.
didn't know they still made them in Porsche sizes. those prices are a good value
I have the Allegeritas and use Hoosiers. Don't try to match OEM diameter - one of the advantages of going 18" is the slightly smaller diameter tires effectively lower your gear ratio, improving acceleration at expense of top speed - but no one gets any where near rated top speed on a typical track anyway. I run 245/35-18 F and 315/30-18 R and car handles great with no ABS issues.

Last time I looked for RA1's they were not available. I run the 888's with no complaints. Very nice on the street.

I bet if every person who jumped from street tires directly to Hoosiers spent a season on RA1/NT01's, they'd be a considerably better driver. If you can't drive a hot lap, at/near max slip angle, for every corner on a set of RA1's/NT01's, you honestly aren't even ready for Hoosiers. Plus, they are just damn fun to drive on.

I've tried them and they are STICKY... I'm now using MPSC and believe it or not I don't think the MPSC are much stickier than the KU-36... MPSC are lighter... more comfortable on the street and have way better turn in... but for the $$$ you are not going to beat the KU-36 for stick in the corners... you can drive them on the street but they are rougher and noisier than the MPSC tires... but boy do they stick... heck I'd have to say they are as sticky as MPSC... their treadwear is a 180 but I don't buy that.. !
get the RA1s from the link that mvez pointed out before they run out. best deal in town. great tires.
