Need 996 GT3 Advise

Hello,

I have had a 996 C2 Cab. for many years now...its time to get a newer toy...Newer to me that is...i have been going back and forth between the Turbo or GT3 and have decided that the GT3 is what i want...

Is there anything i need to look for when buying a 2004-05 996 GT3??

Any advise or pointer would be helpful!!!

Thanks Guys...

after having had 7 of them. i would just look for
1. not hit
2. no excessive over rev
everything else is not all that imporant.

What he said ^.
Don't pay more than $60k for one. Regardless of how low the miles are, they are not worth more than that. Many nice examples can be found in the mod $50's.

Are there any inherant problems with the GT3's....as an example the C2's and 4's suffer from RMS and IMS problems, and failure...

While it has been argued that the 996 was one of the more problematic series, the RMS and IMS issues are largely more of an issue in the "regular" Carrera line up (non-GT3 or non-Turbo). The Turbo, and of course the GT3 utilize the Metzger enginge block with a split case, proving vastly more reliable and relatively problem free when properly driven/maintained.

Long story short: 996 GT3 is one of the more reliable water-cooled models.

The cobolt blue one is a private party sale on e-bay and the member is on Rennlist for sure and I think 6-speed as well.

who the hell told you that.
GT3 does have RMS issues. not as prevalent, but it exists.
