Think: this car has been around since the 1960s and it is still doing a damned fine job in racing trim.
It has raced in different terrains, environments and types of races and it always manages to claw its way back to the top. Sure, it looks largely the same as it did way back when but as the saying goes: "Why fix something that ain't broke?"
Can you think of any other race cars that have survived the test of time like the 911? Is there a better racer out there?
Today is a big day in motorsports as we kick off the 2011 season with the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The race is an hour in, but started strong for Porsche. The #45 Flying Lizard Porsche powered Daytona Prototype started on the pole, the team's first time running a prototype, while the #66 TRG Porsche started up front in the GT Class. Also racing in the GT Class this year is Hurley Haywood in the Brumos #59 Porsche GT3 Cup car. Hurley will try for his seventh win at the Rolex 24 this weekend.
