Is now the 'wrong' time to buy a '09 GT2?
Luuuuke, keep the Black Series.

Mike
this is truth,
the gt2 is going to devalue moreso in the next 6-8 months, if you feel like taking a hit on it then by all means go for it, or you could wait it out for a little bit longer and see what pops up (more supply with lower prices, people will begin to dump in favor of newer models),
a 996gt3 or even a nice 996gt2 (IMO cooler than 997), are at lower deprecatory spots. (gt3 being almost at the bottom)
Are you going to track it? What %? I love my GT2 but nowdays I rarely drive it on the roads, mostly just the track, which unfortunately I have not had much time for lately. Btw, I got my '08 w/ 400 miles on it in 11/09 for 165k, so 155k is at least 20k too high. I wasn't aware there were any 09s, thought US only got 08 models?
I'm looking at basically a showroom new '09 GT2 with less than 1,000 miles. Can buy it for about $155K. I love everything about the car and would like to buy it except I am worried that the timing may be wrong. Let me explain further:
Cars are never an investment except in very rare cases, and I would in no way think of a '09 GT2 in those terms. However, I like many of you, have lost lots of money in the past by buying expensive cars, only to see them depreciate rapidly. That's OK for the most part, especially when it's the newest car on the block; you pay to play as it were. BUT, the '09 GT2 is now about to be three model years old, AND there will be a new 991 variant in 2-3 years. Hence, is the car that I'm looking at destined to lose 33% more of its value in 2-3 years, and only be worth $100K when the 991 version arrives in say 2015-2016?
Any thoughts appreciated.

The car will be about 80%/20% DD/track used.
Can you tell me as much as possible re: tracking your GT2? Would be interested in any modifications you've made, and how you believe the car handles on track. Have you had any serious 'moments'? The salesman was constantly telling me not to get into the throttle until the car was completely straight lest it attempt to 'snap' on me. PM me if you'd like.

Best bang for the buck and with pretty much zero depreciation is the 996 GT2.. I looked at all my options and that's what I did.. get a 2003 or 2004 if you can find one.. Absolute bargain pricing ($70 - $85k) highly desireable, rare and none of the electronic nannies that he 997 GT2 has. I went through the exact same value / depreciation proposition argument you are, considered the 997 GT2, but looked at the plummeting prices and that's why I got the 996 GT2.. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it...
Cheers...
