In the article, they are refering to Rod Millen in 2WD TA class so should be the top car.

It appears that Rod Millen is 1st in a Hyundai Genesis ?!? How can Porsche be beaten by Hyundai?

Was it a weight difference? They lightened the 2RS to the metal though...

The GT2 RS did not have that much weight loss - it still has nav, A/C, stereo.

The RMR Genesis is completely built.Weight of 2400 pounds, sheetmetal exchanged for widened carbon-fiber panels, splitters, air dams, and ducts pretty much everywhere that air can be split, dammed, or ducted.

RMR built a stroked to 4.1 liters (from the 3.8L stock engine,) slapped with a Turbonetics turbocharger, and married to an HKS sequential transmission. Ultimate output around 550 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque.

Not a stock car, to say the least.

OK, that implies that the classes are poorly defined. In that sense, Zwart's result is very good and Millen should be listed on a different class.

Not really, it doesn't because Tajima entered in an open class. IMO the 2WD Time Attack should be divided in 2 classes - stock and prepped.

Actually, he's entered as unlimited, not open, but your point is well taken.

1. Rod Millen 11:04.912
2. Jeff Zwart 11:07.869

For reference, Zwart ran a 11:31.1 with his GT3 Cup in 2010 when he was the 2WD Time Attack winner, and placed 6th overall against all classes. He set a new record by over 38 seconds.

From Porsche Motorsports to Pikes Peak, the only modifications done to the RS were safety components (RoW club sport cage, a race seat,) some carpeting removed, lightweight plastic GT3 Cup doors, and three-piece BBS alloys wearing Michelin racing tires.

Saw Zhart go by in the blink of an eye yesterday at mile 11... with the stock exhaust he just blew by with almost no sound except both turvos spooling like mad, gulping in all the air they could find. His driving was extremely smooth and controlled and he was out if sight in about 2 seconds.
