18" wheels for 997 gt2 street driving?

As we all know the 997 gt2 stock wheels are super heavy. I want to replace them with 18" wheels for the street and track. However, the car is as low as it is, I'm afraid that it will be too low (due to downsizing of the wheels and different tire ratio) to be driving comfortably on the road. Do any of you guys have them? How does it drive around town? Thanks guys

Why not just get a lighter 19 inch wheel? Our 100% fully forged monoblock 19 inch RS98, for example, weighs 19.02lbs (front) and 20.61lbs (rear)...lighter then most 18 inch wheels.

i drove on my 18 inch ccw's with r6 hoosiers for 1 year . i took em off last week when i replaced with 19 cl bbs monoblock. all you have to do is watch out for driveways a bit if your car will be track spec. and i had my car as low as it can go for the track LOL. but as far as going over speed bumps and potholes (los angeles) it was fine. the hoosier didnt wear to bad on the street either. i say go for it. i already miss em since they are 5 lug and i have cl now. it feel off... i have smy ccw for sale as well . good luck buddy youll enjoy it.

If you want 18" wheels you can use tires in 245/401/8 and 305/35/18 and that is the same over all diameter as stock 19" tires. Or if you want the car to sit lower 255/35/18 and 315/30/18 keeps the overall dimention of front tire and rear tire with in spec so that ABS and PSM do not go wacky.

I like the Champion wheels that Champion posted...I'd go that way because you have more tire choices.
