Seting up Gt2 for a street? Susp, LSD etc

Since Im a novice to the Porsche world I would like to get peoples opinions and would appreciate any help I can get

I'm currently trying to close a deal(pending PPI) on 2002 GT2 with mild mods list.

Really wanted to get John's Gt1000 but after talking to my doctor and multiple threats of spinal surgery will probably have to settle for something milder - if car spins then I might have to go for a spine surgery
In 6-12 month I should be back to 100% normal and can step it up.
7 month ago doctors were promising me a weelchair for rest of my life and I'm back to normal functionality and taking a tight turns im my AMGs )))))))) but I still need to be carefull to not to reinjure in short terms

So I would try to set up a car to be very safe againstspinoffs (they actualy worse for me then controlled Gs in the turn or even mild collision.

Just to give you a bit of the background on me - my first car was Lotus S4 Turbo and it wa daily driver even in winters in Upstate NY even in the heavy snow with no traction control or ABS and with a nasty turb lag - i guess kind of similar to GT2 except turbo lag ))))

Fast forward 18 years - I mostly drive very high HP modified AMGs with a lot of TQ and automatic transmissions, and handling is not as greate as it should be

My driving stile is "calculated aggressive" were basicaly I allways learn limits of the car and try not to use more than 80% of its capabilities

With purchase of Gt2 I'm trying to get some excitment in to my daily driving but still do it safe. I would like car to be safe if I hit a patch of the wet road or come under ocasional rain on the drive home. That of course implies what I know what I'm doing. I live in Long Island NY and our road quality is not too good for a most part. Would like to set up a car so street ride quality is good without sacrificing preformance

Car I'm about to get produces 510wph and I probably end up in 580-600 range shortly.

Car has a Moton 2 way dampers installed with a stock springs.
I have had a great success with progressive springs on the street - is there any good progressive springs availiable for Motons?

I will be doing really good aligment and corner weighting and I understand what I need dog bones at minimum to be able to adjust geometry

What else is usefull to improve steering and suspension preformance without significant sacrifices to the ride quality

I also plan to use good motor mounts. I would be very hesitant to use solid subframe mounts - they probably will be too harsh and car will be non compliant at all.

Any advises on proper seting up Motons for streets - i.e. spring rates, tips and tricks, etc..

ALso sway bars - do they help for Gt2, HR vs Ebach vs GMG vs Gt3 - for example aftermarket sway bars preform worse then AMG sways on the MB

Strut tower bars - usefull on 996? - they really helped me to transform heavily modified W210 E55s and CLK63

LSDs - I have had a great success with helical(Quafe and Wavetrac) LSDs in the past - they actualy seem to help on the wet.

Looking for something enjoyable and not agressive. - Was recomended Carbonics, OS GIKEN and Porsche Motorsports internals for LSDs

Car already comes with 20" champions - probably will be moving down to 19s or 18s - do not like to ride on rubber bands.

I will also take some driving school to master rear engine platform as it is entirely new to me

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know who told you that Porsche Motorsports internals weren't aggressive, but you've been misled on that front. Porsche Motorsports internals are only offered in an aggressive configuration. They treat it as a one size fits all option with no adjustability.

Here's a good thread for you to learn about rebuilding the stock LSD on the GT2. It also discusses a lot about LSD design and function.

The main safety issue is your tires. On the GT2, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups do not handle anything with ANY standing water above above 35mph. It's like a Mastercraft ski boat on plane. Don't even try. None of us are that good. I don't know of any tires that will fit your rims that will handle water, bur that's the key issue. Let us know what you do!

I know about tires. Best all around tire I used is a Vredestein Sensata Ultra - does wonders on the track and can handle a light snow

Unfortunatley they would not fit (((((((((((((((((
It is wha it is though - - tire ressearch is in order

Fit A WaveTrac I have fitted one to My Turbo and the steering is now as light and as quick as my Supercharged Boxster.

I do have Coil Overs and a medium track wheel alignment but the difference the dif made was incredible.

You cannot go wrong with a Wavetrac if you like to drive your Porsche as it was Intended.

Cheers,
Tim
